Sustained by a Mother’s Love

Heleman and his 2000 Stripling Warriors is a story that exemplifies absolute Courage and Faith.  What these young men chose to do and chose to believe is so admirable. As a youth I remember pondering on how much they relied and trusted in the faith, knowledge and experiences of their mothers, to the point that there was no doubt in their minds that their mothers knew that the Lord their God would guide and protect them.  As a mother I my attention turned the example of the mother’s themselves.  How did they do it? How did they raise such incredible faithful sons.  I feel confident that the Lord was also preparing these young their whole lives. Knowing that they would be choosing to go into battle so that their fathers would not have to break the oath they had made with God.  I know that although we may not recognize it at the time, especially the we see out children struggle, that he is helping intentional loving mothers fulfill their calling to love and guide his children as they learn for themselves to find the Gospel of Jesus Christ, hunger for it and live it. We are loved and known.
