The Parable of the 10 Virgins is packed with symbolism and meaning. What I tried to capture in this painting is a subtle reminder that we need to make the sacrifices necessary to fill our lamps with oil. Because we are living our lamps are always burning so this oil needs to be being filled daily, drop by drop. We live our lives always watching and preparing for the arrival of the Bridegroom and when he arrives we want out lamps to be burning brightly, evidence of the sacrifices we have made to learn of him and live his gospel.
